The Business Card Blunder:

Consider this scenario... You've met someone interesting in a club and you like each other enough to exchange phone numbers. You whip out a business card—then you suddenly realize you don't want them calling you at work because personal calls or personal e-mail could be a problem with your boss. So you try to borrow a pen from someone or flag down a waitress to use hers. You write down your home phone number, and quickly scratch out the business number and e-mail, as you make some awkward excuse.

An even cheesier move is writing your number on a cocktail napkin. Half of the time, moisture smears your number making it illegible, or your half-inebriated handwriting was unreadable in the first place. Or, the napkin gets lost or tossed or used to wipe up a beer spill.

The Personal Card Coup:

The Imagination Store has created a convenient way to convey your home phone number and other pertinent personal info—a way that will be appreciated and even admired—first, for its uniqueness and secondly because, unlike a cold business card, it is friendly and practical. Instead of handing out a business card, hand a new friend your PERSONAL CARD. A Personal Card (PC) contains absolutely no business information whatsoever. A business card is all about your job. A Personal Card is all about YOU—who you are and what you do when you're NOT chained to your desk for eight hours each day. PCs tell what you're really about—what you do when you're having FUN!

In addition to your personal cell phone and/or home phone number and your personal e-mail address, the PC contains either your photo or vital stats, plus valuable personal information about you, including your mission statement and your primary interests. In the brief time it takes someone to read your PC, the person you gave it to will feel like they now know quite a lot about you, even if you've only exchanged a few words.

To follow are two Personal Card samples. One includes a photo and the other has vital stats in lieu of a photo.
